Strength, Courage and Confidence; What Facial Difference Teaches Us
P.A.L.S. Foundation's most recent success has been the publication of an autobiographical account of one of its Board Members, Jennifer Wallace, about growing up with a hemangioma tumor. Jennifer had a large facial hemangioma that grew to the size of one-half of a grapefruit by the time she was 4 months old. Jennifer's book, "Strength, Courage and Confidence; What Facial Difference Teaches Us" reveals her and her family's struggles and successes with dealing with facial difference, hemangioma tumors and the social stigma of looking different. Disaster Preparedness
Working with principals, school leaders and teachers, the Foundation develops disaster plans for the school and individual classrooms. Activities include having each child work with parents to fill a backpack with an extra change of clothes, identification and non-perishable food. All back packs are stored in a bin in each classroom for easy access and distribution in a crisis.
